Florida Branch Event – Private Tour
February 28th, 2026
A private tour of the blockbuster exhibit “Art and Life in Rembrandt’s Time” at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach was the highlight of the season for Florida Branch members. Works in the exhibition were selected from the Leiden Collection created by Thomas S. Kaplan and his wife, Daphne Recanati Kaplan, that is among the largest and most important collections of seventeenth-century Dutch art in private hands.
Coinciding with the 400th anniversary of New Amsterdam’s founding on the island of present-day Manhattan, Art and Life in Rembrandt’s Time marks Florida’s first large-scale exhibition of Rembrandt’s paintings.
The Norton Museum docent leading the tour provided insightful observations and interpretations of the artwork with historical context. The list of attendees included members of long standing and members attending their first event. After the tour, attendees enjoyed an informal lunch with excellent food and camaraderie in the museum’s vibrant restaurant.
